The 12 areas selected for protection are as follows:

This significant decision comes after a thorough review of a comprehensive paper submitted by the Environment Ministry, highlighting the unique environmental characteristics and breathtaking natural scenery found in these areas.
These designated zones fall under the purview of the Strategic Action Plan for 2019 to 2023 and the Environmental Protection and Conservation Act. According to these guidelines, each province is mandated to protect a minimum of 10 percent of its forested area and 20 percent of its combined forest and grassland. Additionally, the Environmental Protection and Conservation Act necessitates the preservation of at least one village, one bay, one forest, and one shellfish grassland in each province.
